High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI)

HD ready
| In Jan 2005, the European Information, Communications and Consumer Electronics Technology Industry Association (EICTA), announced requirements for the “HD ready” label. “HD ready” was introduced as a quality symbol to differentiate display equipment that is capable of processing and displaying high-definition signals. However, most “HD ready” sets don’t have enough pixels to render true pixel-for-pixel representation without interpolation of the higher HD resolution (1920x1080) – or even the lower HD resolution (1280x720) standard! In fact, many PC and laptop displays are actually more HD-ready -- in the true sense of the phrase -- than the “HD ready” label requires! But these displays cannot qualify for the “HD ready” label without also meeting the connector requirements. |
