FULL HD
| “Full-HD” refers to a display resolution of 1920x1080 (2,073,600 total) pixels and a wide screen 16:9 aspect ratio. In contrast, CRT television features an interlaced 480i display resolution and a 4:3 aspect ratio screen.
A “display” is commonly defined as an HD device with a minimum resolution of 720p, i.e. a native resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. This is currently the most popular HD specification in LCD displays. For full HD 1080p displays, the number “1080” indicates the number of horizontal scan lines and the letter “p” denotes the “progressive” scan method (as opposed to interlaced), meaning the displays can convey all of the lines of resolution sequentially in a single pass. This makes for a smoother, cleaner image, especially for sports and other motion-intensive content.

| Standard photographic film (35 mm) movies run at 24 frames per second, while television generally runs at 60 frames per second. Therefore standard film-based movies need to go through a conversion process called a 3:2 pull-down in order to be broadcast on a TV display.
