NEXGEN Mediatech Inc., a member of the CHIMEI Group, was established as part of CHIMEI Group's vertical integration strategy for optoelectronics investment. Led by CHIMEI Group Chairman Ho Jau-Yang and President Shi Chia-chang, NEXGEN Mediatech is in charge of industrial design, R&D, production, marketing and sales of CHIMEI-brand products.
Headquartered in southern Taiwan, NEXGEN Mediatech markets the CHIMEI brand around the world. The company currently has branches and offices in Taipei, China (Shenzhen and Shanghai), the Netherlands, Singapore and California. NEXGEN also has assembly plants in Germany, the Czech Republic and China (Ningpo, Wuxi and Kunshan).
Established in 2002, NEXGEN Mediatech Inc. was an OEM/ODM business, primarily shipping products to Europe, North America and Japan. In 2003, NEXGEN began selling LCD TVs and monitors under the Polyvision, Polyview and CMV brand names, thus beginning a new era for its own-brand.
In 2006, NEXGEN Mediatech was awarded stewardship of the CHIMEI brand, with full support from the CHIMEI Group. Using the CHIMEI name, NEXGEN formally launched an all-new brand system for entry to the consumer electronics market. The CHIMEI brand, continuing CHIMEI Group's pursuit of truth, kindness and beauty, uses aesthetically pleasing materials and branding to create a refined, affordable and friendly product image. Thus, the CHIMEI brand embodies the Group's abundant resources and deep commitment, while also representing the best and brightest people who make up the heart of its enterprise.
NEXGEN Mediatech has also launched its own MIRAI-brand products in Europe, the only Taiwanese brand to become a top-selling LCD TV brand in that lucrative market. According to a 2006 LCD TV market report by well-known market research consultant and publisher MEKO, not only are MIRAI products expected to see great growth in the European market, NEXGEN's brand development strategy has been credited for this success.
NEXGEN Mediatech, in addition to brand marketing and product innovation, is also dedicated to meeting safety requirements and environmental regulations. In 2003, NEXGEN Mediatech was awarded TÜV, UL, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 certification, along with China Compulsory Certification (CCC). In 2006, in line with RoHS requirements, NEXGEN Mediatech now uses product components that are completely lead free.
NEXGEN Mediatech plans to gradually scale back its OEM business and concentrate on the development of own-brand products for the Taiwan market. As of the third quarter in 2006, CHIMEI-brand LCD monitors took the number one spot in the Taiwan market while its LCD TVs jumped to number two. As a Top-10 brand in Taiwan, CHIMEI LCD products were voted “most impressive” by local media professionals in 2006. With successful track records in Taiwan and Europe, CHIMEI has its sights firmly set on Chinese and North American markets. CHIMEI’s goal is to become a Top-10 global Taiwanese brand.
The CHIMEI Group has always believed that businesses, while pursuing profit, are still composed of people and ideas, which are the lifeblood of any company. CHIMEI has always cared about customer needs. CHIMEI also hopes to contribute to the overall wellbeing of society through its focus on technology, humanities and the arts.
