NEXGEN Mediatech Inc, subsidiary of CHIMEI group

Targeting on Japan market development, NEXGEN Mediatech Inc, subsidiary of CHIMEI group, will team up with Osanai research office of Waseda Business School to implement the joint program of new product development. Core research activities of Osanai research office concentrates on Technology management and Innovation management. Around ten MBA major students will participate in this program under the general topic of market innovation and customer value creation. The group consists of experienced working professionals who work for companies such as SONY, Fujitsu, NEC or RIKEN, an independent administrative institution under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in Japan.
 
Objective of the joint program is to boost the LED lighting business scale of CHIMEI brand in Japan market. By leveraging the perspectives from students of Osanai research office, new product development will be more domestic consumers oriented. Recently, the operation efficiency of Taiwan manufacturers has drawn a lot attention in the research fields of Technology management in Japan. By participating in this joint program, Osanai research office would collect more firsthand observation on the business process and marketing practice of Taiwan manufacturers.
 
To welcome the visit of Dr. Osanai and students on May 4th, 2012, Chairman Shi provided a brief introduction of NEXGEN’s core business activities, followed by the kick off meeting of this joint program. Dr. Osanai and students later came to visit headquarter of CHIMEI Corporation, orchestrating a two hours intriguing session about business culture of CHIMEI Group and current challenges of Japan manufacturers with Mr. Wen-Lung Shi, founder of CHIMEI Corporation 
Currently, CHIMEI branding LED desk lamps manufactured by NEXGEN have been ready for selling in large retail stores in Japan market such as Bic Camera Inc and on- line stores such as Amazon.JP. The LED desk lamps have earned a great reputation for the design and the well-positioning superior value with a reasonable price. A group of one to several students will make up research teams to analyze market competition and focus on new product development in Japan. The best team will be rewarded a business trip to Taiwan and participate in the actual product development project.
 
About Professor Atsushi OSANAI
 
Professor Osanai received his BA Degree and PhD Degree at Kyoto University, both in economics. He had been a special assistant of the chairman in subsidiary of TV business during his SONY career, with major focus on product strategy.
 
Dr. Osanai had been an associate professor of Graduate School of Business Administration in Kobe University since April, 2007; he has been an associate professor of Graduate school of Commerce in Waseda University since April, 2011.
 
Dr. Osanai has consulted for companies such as NEXGEN Mediatech Inc, Interchange association Japan (IAJ), Subsidiary of SONY’s digital camera business, and House Foods Corporation in the areas of marketing strategy and planning.
